Information is the name of the game. So, including line items in deals is critical. It helps everyone be on the same page about what to expect once you close the sale and work on fulfilling the order. This is true for sales and customer service teams, and even for clients and customers.  

You can add line items to a HubSpot deal record based on products, along with specific information about the product.

How to setup the "Add Line Item to Deal" workflow action in PocketKnife?  

Make sure that you have access to your HubSpot portal. 

There is no set up needed in the PocketKnife HubSpot Add On itself. "Add Line Item to Deal" is available in your portal from the moment you connect PocketKnife with your HubSpot account.

 

How to setup the Add Line Item to Deal workflow action?  

To start using the PocketKnife workflow action to add HubSpot deal line items, follow this guide: 

Step 1: Create a deal-based workflow and set up the trigger(s)

Follow this link to HubSpot’s Knowlegde base to learn how to create a workflow. This requires that you either select your workflow object and type based on a template. You can also start from scratch. This sees you setting up enrollment triggers. 

 

Step 2: Choose the workflow action Add Line Item to Deal

After you've set up enrollment triggers, you can click the + plus icon. In the left panel of the HubSpot portal, you can find the PocketKnife  workflow action “Add Line Item to Deal” among other workflow actions.

 

Step 3: Define the action Add Line Item to Deal

In this step, you have a few options: 

  1. Choose the product from the product library. All product details will be copied.
  2. Set the quantity of the product you want to add in the line item. Leave empty for quantity 0. 
  3. Set the price by choosing a property, or leave it empty to apply the price of the product in the library. For example, a zero-price property for a giveaway.
  4. Click Save when done.

 

Step 4: Publish your workflow for the HubSpot line item API

  • Review the steps in your workflow. 

  • Make sure you have properly defined the action for your Add Line Item to Deal. 

    • Once you have gone through the necessary checks, you are ready to publish. 

     

    How to track the line items you added through PocketKnife's workflow action?

    • Login to your PocketKnife add on. 
    • In the dashboard, you will see that the 20 most recent objects are displayed. 
    • You can see Deal IDs, Product IDs, Product Names and Product SKUs. 

     

    Consult number of Product Line's

    On the PocketKnife dashboard you can monitor how many product-based Line Items are added to Deals.

    The limit is depending on your subscription plan (Freemium, your Single Feature, Pro or Entreprise). 

    To upgrade your subscription plan, go to Subscription & Billing under the username of your account and choose the plan that fits your needs.
